Umar Gul in Talks for Pace Bowling Coach Role

Bangladesh Cricket Board Seeks Replacement for Andre Adams

Former Pakistan fast bowler Umar Gul is in discussions with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to take over as the national team's pace bowling coach. The right-arm fast bowler confirmed the development to Cricbuzz on Monday (April 7).

Current Situation

BCB is searching for a new pace bowling coach to replace Andre Adams, whose two-year contract runs until February 2026. A senior board official stated that Adams is unlikely to continue in his role due to dissatisfaction within the team over his performance.

Potential Candidates

Several names have emerged as possible replacements for Adams, including former Australian pacer Shaun Tait, and former Bangladesh pace bowling coaches Allan Donald and Ottis Gibson.

Coaching Appointments

  • Phil Simmons' coaching tenure has been extended until the 2027 ICC World Cup.
  • Mohammad Salahuddin's reappointment as senior assistant coach has been finalized, with the formalities expected to be completed during the board meeting.
