RCB's Bobat Discusses Workload Management and Bowling Unit
Mo Bobat, Royal Challengers Bangalore's team director, spoke about the challenges of workload management during the upcoming phase of the IPL 2025 schedule. With 10 consecutive matches alternating between home and away games, Bobat acknowledged the need to keep the players fresh.
"We'll take it on a day by day, week by week basis. Our medical team are doing a brilliant job and they've got a good track record over the last few years. If you look at us relative to probably other teams we've not had too many sub-tissue injuries."
Bobat highlighted the congested middle phase of the schedule, with seven games in 22 days and seven travel days, as a potential challenge. He emphasized the importance of keeping the players fresh during this period.
"We're more interested in how we keep the boys fresh through that period and keep playing the way we want to play."
Regarding the team's bowling unit, Bobat expressed satisfaction with the availability of back-up bowlers. He praised the skills of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood, and Yash Dayal, and mentioned the potential of Rasikh Salam and Nuwan Thushara.
"We think they'll be well suited to bowling somewhere difficult and challenging like here. So at the minute we're very happy with how those guys have got on."
Bobat also touched upon the possibility of workload management, stating that the team is "pretty relaxed" about it. He emphasized the importance of keeping the players on the park and allowing them to rest if needed.
"If they end up needing a bit of a rest we're pretty relaxed about that too because we've got a really good squad."
