Shreyas Iyer's Selfless Act in Punjab Kings' Win

Shreyas Iyer, the Punjab Kings captain, put the team's interests ahead of his personal milestone, scoring his maiden IPL century. Iyer was unbeaten on 97 when the last over began, and his teammate Shashank Singh took strike.

Shashank smashed 23 runs in the final over, but instead of passing the strike to Iyer, he chose to play his shots. "He only came and told me, 'Shashank, don't worry about my 100,'" Shashank said.

Iyer's decision to prioritize the team's win over his personal milestone was a testament to his leadership. "So obviously the way Shreyas told me that 'Shashank go and just hit every ball for a boundary or a six,'" Shashank said, which gave him the confidence to play his shots.

Iyer's innings included nine sixes and five fours, and he was adjudged Player of the Match.
