BCCI confirms no changes to SOPs for Indian team
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that the newly formulated SOPs for the Indian team, including the policy towards family on overseas tours, will remain unchanged.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia told Cricbuzz, "The current policy will remain intact… it is of paramount importance to both the nation and our institution, the BCCI."
The SOPs, introduced following the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, limit the presence of family members during overseas tours. Spouses and children (under 18) can accompany the Indian contingent for up to two weeks if the tour lasts more than 45 days.
Some players have expressed displeasure with the policy, including Virat Kohli, who said, "I want to be able to be normal… finish my responsibility, and come back to life."
Saikia acknowledged there may be differing opinions but emphasized the policy is applied uniformly to all team members and has been in place for decades.
He added, "The new policy is an amendment of the previous one, with additional provisions regarding players' presence at practice sessions, match schedules, tours, luggage, team movements, and other ancillary activities."
Saikia left the door open for possible concessions, stating any changes would be considered through a formal process.
