BCCI Sports Science Head Nitin Patel Set to Leave

Nitin Patel, the head of the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) Sports Science wing, is leaving the newly-created Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Patel, a former India and Mumbai Indians physio, will be leaving the facility soon, with his notice period currently underway.

  • Overseeing injury and workload management
  • Rehabilitating international and domestic cricketers
  • Managing the recovery and management of key international players, including Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul

Notable Achievements

  • Successfully rehabilitating players like Shreyas Iyer and Jasprit Bumrah for the 2023 World Cup
  • Coordinating with the Indian team and head coach Rahul Dravid for injury, workload, and rehab management

Departure

Patel's departure is sudden, with no clear reason given. He is currently serving his notice period and may exit the Bengaluru centre by the end of this month. The BCCI will be coming out with an advertisement to find a replacement.
