Georgia Voll shines in UP Warriorz's loss
- Voll's 33-ball 55 goes in vain as Warriorz lose by nine wickets
- Mumbai Indians penalised for slow over-rate, Harmanpreet Kaur argues with umpire
In their second home game, UP Warriorz suffered a defeat by nine wickets against Mumbai Indians. Despite a strong start powered by Georgia Voll's 55 off 33 balls, the hosts were restricted to 150/9. Voll's knock included 12 boundaries, but the rest of the batting order failed to provide sufficient support.
Voll, who joined Warriorz as a replacement player for Chamari Athapaththu, expressed her excitement about making an early impression in the Women's Premier League. She admitted that the past couple of months have been a whirlwind, with the call to replace Athapaththu coming as a surprise.
For the first time this season, Warriorz fielded two overseas batters in the opening slot. While Grace Harris struggled, the middle order collapsed, leaving Voll to back her teammates for future performances.
Towards the end of Warriorz's innings, Mumbai Indians were penalised for a slow over-rate, leading to an argument between Harmanpreet Kaur and the umpire. Sophie Eccelstone, who tried to intervene, also faced Kaur's ire. Voll, who witnessed the incident, was unsure of the cause of Kaur's frustration.
Amelia Kerr, who had earlier taken a five-wicket haul for Warriorz, opened the innings for Mumbai Indians and scored 10 runs off 13 balls. She mentioned that the slow over-rate was the reason for the argument and emphasised the need for Mumbai Indians to improve their time management between overs.
