Hamstrung Rohit cautious in nets; Gill stays indoors

The Indian team had a thorough net session on Wednesday night. Captain Rohit Sharma was a passive participant, while vice-captain Shubman Gill did not come to the ground at all.

Rohit is believed to be nursing a hamstring injury sustained during India's second league match against Pakistan on Sunday. He briefly retired to the dressing room during Pakistan's innings but returned to the field and batted, making 20 off 15 balls.

Rohit observed from the sidelines as his teammates had an intense batting session. He is being cautious so that he does not aggravate the injury ahead of India's third league fixture against New Zealand on March 2, as well as the upcoming knockout games – the semifinal on March 4 and, potentially, the final on March 9.

It is believed that Rohit will take it easy for the New Zealand game, considering it is largely inconsequential. Both teams have already booked their spots in the semifinals.

Meanwhile, Gill stayed indoors due to illness but is expected to be ready for the March 2 game. Rishabh Pant, who had been unwell with a fever, has fully recovered and batted for an extended period during the nets. Mohammed Shami did not bat but bowled at full throttle to all the frontline Indian batters, including Virat Kohli.
