UP Warriorz's Sthalekar rues '30-40 runs left out there' after loss to Gujarat Giants

Lisa Sthalekar, mentor of UP Warriorz, admitted that the team fell short by 30-40 runs after their loss to Gujarat Giants in the Women's Premier League 2025.

UPW made a strong start with Kiran Navgire slamming three boundaries in the first two overs, but the Deepti Sharma-led side struggled to keep pace after her departure. The Giants bowlers kept striking at regular intervals to limit Warriorz to a below-par 143 for 9.

Deandra Dottin and Harleen Deol stitched an unbeaten 58-run stand to help Giants over the finish line with two overs to spare and secure their first win of the season.

Sthalekar attributed the loss to the team's inability to capitalize on their batting innings, stating that they left 30 to 40 runs out there. She praised Deepti Sharma's all-round performance, saying she had a "pretty good game." Sthalekar also highlighted the positives for her team, including the strong start with the ball and the performances of Alana King and Saima Thakor.

Despite the loss, Sthalekar believes there are positives to take from the game and that her team should not get too worked up with the result of one match. She praised Deepti Sharma's leadership, saying it has helped to bring out the best in her.
