Delhi Capitals prevail in nail-biting chase

Delhi Capitals registered a thrilling two-wicket win over Mumbai Indians in Vadodara, chasing down a total of 164. Shafali Verma (42 off 18) started the chase strongly, but regular wickets meant the game went down to the wire. With two needed off the final ball, Radha Yadav and Arundhati Reddy sneaked a brace, with Reddy putting in a big dive to save her side.

Shikha Pandey (2 for 14) was exceptional with the new ball, taking two massive MI scalps early on. Nat Sciver-Brunt (80* off 59) and Harmanpreet Kaur (42 off 22) then counterpunched during a phase of exciting strokeplay. However, Delhi's bowlers got rid of Kaur and Sciver-Brunt, and MI's lower middle order crumbled.

In the chase, Shafali fell to a soft dismissal, and Jemimah Rodrigues chipped a harmless leg break to skipper Harmanpreet Kaur. Niki Prasad (35 off 33) stitched a handy 33-run stand with Alice Capsey, but the latter never looked settled. Sarah Bryce then made a significant intervention with a whirlwind 10-ball cameo that yielded 21.

The game saw two hugely debatable run out referrals, both going in favour of the batter. Radha Yadav smashed the next ball for a six, bringing the equation down to 10 needed off the final over. With two needed off two balls, Prasad miscued one to deep mid-wicket, leaving DC with a nail-biting final act. Reddy then put in a big dive to clear the boundary, and the third umpire had the final say in the game.

Brief scores: Mumbai Indians 164 in 19.1 overs (Nat Sciver-Brunt 80*, Harmanpreet Kaur 42; Shikha Pandey 2-14) lost to Delhi Capitals 165-8 in 20 overs (Shafali Verma 43, Niki Prasad 35; Amelia Kerr 2-21) by two wickets
