India's CT Jersey to Include ICC Logo
The BCCI has confirmed that the Indian team will adhere to ICC guidelines for the Champions Trophy (CT), including the display of the official ICC logo on the jersey. This logo features Pakistan's imprint.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia stated, "We will follow whatever are the ICC guidelines," aiming to end controversy over the Indian jersey and CT logo. He reiterated, "We will follow the ICC directive," when asked about Pakistan being included in the logo.
This confirmation ends the uproar over India's objection to the logo, as the team will not travel to Pakistan, the CT's designated hosts. The Indian team will play their games in Dubai.
Saikia has not clarified the BCCI's position on Rohit Sharma attending the opening ceremony in Karachi. The Indian team has not visited Pakistan for cricket since 2008.
In global events, teams generally follow ICC guidelines, with the ICC approving all kits. The Champions Trophy in 2017 had England and Wales on team jerseys, and Pakistan's World Cup 2023 shirts mentioned India. The current ICC women's U19 T20 World Cup logo mentions Malaysia, the host. Recent ICC Media releases carry a Champions Trophy banner mentioning Pakistan.
However, in the Asia Cup, the host country's name is not on the logo. The last Asia Cup, held in Pakistan, had no host name on the shirts. The Asian Cricket Council clarified that this was a policy change.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has no information on the matter, and the ICC has not received any request from the BCCI regarding the opening ceremony or the logo.
