Australia Struggle to Overcome India's Early Woes

In a thrilling start to the chase, Australia found themselves in a precarious position after Prasidh Krishna's impressive spell. The Indian bowler struck thrice, keeping the visitors alive despite Mohammed Siraj's early struggles.

Scott Boland led the charge for Australia, completing an impressive six-wicket haul as India were bowled out in just 7.5 overs. The Australian captain Pat Cummins then took out Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar with contrasting deliveries, leaving India reeling.

Mohammed Siraj's departure followed soon after, as he was bowled for 0 by Usman Khawaja at slips. The Indian team's listlessness without their bowling talisman was evident, as runs continued to come easy even after Sam Konstas departed.

Prasidh Krishna then took out Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith, using his height and the uneven bounce to great effect. Australia headed to Lunch needing 91 more to secure their first Border-Gavaskar Trophy victory since 2014-15.

Brief scores:

  • Australia: 181 & 71/3 (Prasidh Krishna 3-27)
  • India: 185 & 157 (Rishabh Pant 61; Scott Boland 6-45, Pat Cummins 3-44)
