Clinical New Zealand Clinch Series
New Zealand won the match by 45 runs, taking the series 2-0 against Sri Lanka. Key performer for the hosts was pacer Jacob Duffy with a four-wicket haul.
New Zealand's batting was more balanced in the second game. After losing Ravindra early, Robinson and Chapman contributed a 69-run stand. Chapman, despite a missed LBW review and being dropped once, kept the scoreboard moving. Robinson hit a six before being dismissed by Hasaranga's googly.
Glenn Phillips added quick runs with two boundaries against Pathirana. Theekshana was hit for sixes by both Phillips and Chapman. However, Hasaranga's googly claimed Chapman and Phillips soon after, leaving New Zealand at 122-4. Daryl Mitchell stabilized the innings, and Mitchell Hay's 34 runs in the last two overs put Sri Lanka on the back foot.
Sri Lanka started well, but wickets fell frequently as Duffy claimed four. Santner broke the opening stand, and Duffy took wickets at regular intervals. Kusal Perera scored 48, but was dismissed by Duffy's yorker. Bracewell and Phillips accounted for other wickets.
Scorecard: New Zealand 186/5 (Chapman 42, Robinson 41, Hay 41) beat Sri Lanka 141 (Perera 48; Duffy 4-15) by 45 runs.
