Shaheen Shah Afridi, the left-arm pacer, remains tight-lipped about his exclusion from the Pakistan Test squad for the ongoing series against South Africa. He was reportedly axed for failing to comply with a selector's instruction, but PCB cited workload management as the reason for his exclusion and granted him a NOC to participate in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
Afridi is now focused on the BPL and is on the verge of becoming the player with the most number of wickets in the opening over in T20 cricket. He stated, "I'm just simply trying to hit my right areas in T20 cricket…For me, it's usual. Batters try to take on bowlers…As a bowler, when you take a wicket early, the whole batting unit will be disturbed…That's the approach I have – to take a wicket with the new ball."
Afridi is eager to perform well in the BPL, having been brought to the Fortune Barishal franchise by skipper Tamim Iqbal. He said, "I'm really excited to play in the BPL…I know the Bangladeshi people, they love cricket, they love the superstars and I hope I perform well here…I hope there's a lot to learn for us as well…I know there are lots of Pakistani cricketers here. Let's see how the cricket goes."
