Sophie Molineux to Miss Women's Ashes Due to Knee Surgery

Australia allrounder Sophie Molineux will not be part of the upcoming women's Ashes. She will undergo left knee surgery next month, and no return date has been set yet. Molineux, who led Melbourne Renegades to the WBBL title, missed the recent New Zealand ODI series due to a knee issue.

Australia Squad (ODIs and T20Is):

  • Alyssa Healy (c)
  • Darcie Brown
  • Ashleigh Gardner
  • Kim Garth
  • Grace Harris (T20s only)
  • Alana King
  • Phoebe Litchfield
  • Tahlia McGrath (vc)
  • Beth Mooney
  • Ellyse Perry

Australia captain Alyssa Healy, who also had a knee injury, returned for the New Zealand ODIs but did not keep wickets. It remains to be seen if she takes up wicketkeeping duties in the Ashes.

Cricket Australia's Head of Performance (Women's Cricket) and National Selector, Shawn Flegler, praised Healy and other batters for their performance. Georgia Voll, who scored 173 runs against India, received her first Ashes call-up.

After the ODIs (January 12-17) and T20Is (January 20-25), Australia and England will play a historic day-night Test at the MCG (January 30). Australia has not yet announced the Test squad.
