Salahuddin content with focusing on Bangladesh team, not missing BPL
Mohammad Salahuddin, the senior assistant coach of Bangladesh, is currently not involved in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) due to his commitments with the national team. Known for his successful coaching stints in the BPL, Salahuddin expressed that he is not missing the tournament and is focused on his current job.
He mentioned, "I am not missing BPL. I want to see a good BPL where our boys perform well because that is important for me as well as for the team… I am not sure whether I will make it to the ground for all the games of BPL, but I will keep an eye to see how players respond in different situations."
Salahuddin finds happiness in his work and believes in giving his hundred percent to the task at hand. He explained, "I follow this philosophy that suggests a man is unhappy the most by seeing why others are doing well but I don't have that in me because I feel if someone is doing good, let him do it."
During the recently concluded tour of West Indies, Salahuddin, who guided the batting unit, received praise from captain Litton Das for his presence in the dressing room. Salahuddin stated, "Certainly knowing the boys helped me a lot because I have seen them from a very early stage, and as a result, I had a comfort zone while communicating with them."
His focus remains on developing the team and instilling a hunger for success in the players. Salahuddin stated, "I always think about their development… And if I see that someone is lacking the hunger, I must help them develop that hunger… The only thing we emphasized is making sure we are not focusing on individual achievements and need to move forward as a team."
He also expressed his satisfaction with head coach Phil Simmons' handling of the team, both on and off the field. Salahuddin mentioned, "I think he is a positive coach and had his own plan as far as improving the team is concerned… The best thing is that he does not impose anything on the players. I think the communication between him and the players was quite good."
