Fit-again Bess Heath Picked in Ashes Squad

Wicketkeeper-batter Bess Heath has been picked for the Women's Ashes after regaining fitness. Heath, who missed the South Africa tour recently as a result of a fractured thumb, has been picked in the T20 and Test squads.

England have also handed maiden Ashes call-ups to Freya Kemp, Linsey Smith and Ryanna MacDonald-Gay. While Kemp and Smith are picked only in the T20 squads, Heath and MacDonald-Gay continue to rise up the ranks after being handed development contracts recently by the ECB.

MacDonald-Gay, who made her debut in limited-overs cricket earlier this year, made an impression in the one-off Test match recently against South Africa as well, picking up a couple of wickets. Fast bowler Mahika Gaur will travel with the squad as she continues her recovery from an injury that ruled her out of the South Africa tour.

The tour will consist of three ODIs, followed by three T20Is, and conclude with the first-ever D/N Test match at the MCG.
