Simmons credits T20I success to confidence gained from ODI series defeat
Bangladesh head coach Phil Simmons attributed his team's strong performance in the T20I series to the confidence gained from the ODI series defeat. The team clinched their first-ever series victory on Caribbean soil by taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the ongoing three-match T20Is.
Simmons stated that the ODI series helped the team gain faith in their ability to beat the West Indies in the T20I series. He praised the team's performance, saying that they played well in the ODI series despite losing it 3-0.
The coach expressed his confidence in the team's ability to win the series, stating that he believes in their ability to win every match. He emphasized that the team's priority is to leave the Caribbean with the sweet taste of victory, rather than focusing on whitewashing the West Indies.
Simmons was impressed with the batting performance of Shamim Hossain, who scored runs in both T20Is and was named man of the match. He also praised Litton Das for his leadership and performance in the T20I series, despite going through a rough phase.
"I think we have been playing better cricket as the tour has gone along," Simmons said. "Every match I am going to, I believe I can win. As I said in St Kitts, we didn't win but this is a new team and as soon as we come here we start talking about how we can win and what we have to do to win the first game and the second game and now we will talk about how to win the third game and that's how I look at it and always have confidence going into a game."
