- Ben Curran among seven uncapped players named for Afghanistan Test
Zimbabwe's national selectors have picked a rookie-filled Test squad for the upcoming two-match series against Afghanistan at home. There are seven uncapped names in the list, including left-handed opener Ben Curran, son of former cricketer Kevin Curran and sibling to the England internationals Tom and Sam Curran.
Apart from Curran, the others receiving their maiden call-ups to Test cricket are Johnathan Campbell, son of former cricketer Alastair Campbell, alongside Trevor Gwandu, Takudzwa Chataira, Newman Nyamhuri, Nyasha Mayavo and Tadiwanashe Marumani.
The Afghanistan series will feature Zimbabwe's first Boxing Day Test match at home since 1996 while they will also feature in a New Year Test for the first time ever.
The Zimbabwe squad's core features the usual suspects, with Craig Ervine set to continue as captain. Sikandar Raza, Sean Williams, Blessing Muzarabani, and Richard Ngarava are all expected to play a role in the series.
