Jadeja stands firm as Cummins threaten India's chase

Australia pushed for a victory in the Brisbane Test, with a truncated second session on day four seeing 13.2 overs of play. India added 34 runs, losing Nitish Reddy, and still needs 45 runs to force Australia to bat again.

Ravindra Jadeja (65*) played untroubled, forming stands of 67 and 53 with KL Rahul and Nitish Reddy. Jadeja reached his half-century with an on-drive for four and another boundary from a thigh pad brush to fine-leg.

Rain disrupted play twice, with Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins sharing the bowling duties. Cummins dismissed Reddy (16) in his first over back, while Mohammed Siraj survived nervy moments.

In the morning session, India added 116 runs at 3.74 per over, mainly due to a 67-run stand between Rahul (84) and Jadeja. Rohit Sharma fell to Cummins, edging a short ball to the keeper.

Rahul, reprieved by a Smith drop on 33, was fluent until an attempted cut shot off Lyon found Smith, ending a 67-run partnership.

Brief scores: India 201/7 (Jadeja 65*, Rahul 84; Cummins 3-49) trails Australia 445 (Head 152, Smith 101; Bumrah 6-76) by 244 runs.
