Soumya Sarkar Confident in Bangladesh's Bowlers for Upcoming T20I Series

Bangladesh's batter, Soumya Sarkar, remains optimistic about the bowling unit's performance in the three-match T20I series against the West Indies, despite their struggles in the recent ODI series. The T20I series is set to take place at St Kitts from December 15.

In the ODI series, Bangladesh's bowlers failed to defend a target of 294 in the first match and struggled again in the third match, even with a solid 321 on the board. As a result, Bangladesh lost the series 3-0.

However, Sarkar believes that the bowlers will perform better in the T20I format. "Our bowlers have always performed well. They struggled in this (ODI) series, but I think they will bounce back in the upcoming T20Is," he stated.

Sarkar also emphasized the importance of consistent batting performances. "If the batsmen who scored runs in the ODIs can continue that in T20Is, then together with the bowlers, we can have a good tournament(series)," he added.

Although the West Indies are known for their strength in T20 cricket, Sarkar downplayed the "favorites" tag for the hosts. He stated that the outcome depends on performing well across 40 overs, regardless of the teams' sizes.

"Who is the bigger or smaller team doesn't matter. What matters is who plays better for 20 overs each. If we perform well in batting, bowling, and fielding as a team, I'm confident we can beat them comfortably," Sarkar concluded.

The T20I matches are scheduled for December 16, 18, and 20 in Kingstown, St Vincent.
