  • Rabada returns for Pakistan ODIs; Nortje ruled out

Kagiso Rabada has been named in the South Africa squad for the ODI series against Pakistan, returning to the 50-over squad for the first time since appearing in the semifinal of the 2023 ODI World Cup against Australia.

South Africa have also handed Kwena Maphaka his maiden ODI call-up as they announced a 15-member squad for the three-match series. The 18-year-old Maphaka, who has played T20Is for South Africa, was the player of the tournament in the Under-19 World Cup this year, having picked up 21 wickets at an average of 9.71. Marco Jansen, Ottneil Baartman and Andile Phehlukwayo are the other pacers in the squad while Anrich Nortje misses out due to a fractured toe.

The squad, led by Temba Bavuma, sees the return of Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller, who last played an ODI against India in December 2023. Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi are also back, having last featured in an ODI in December 2023 against India, as South Africa named a strong squad with bulk of their frontline options in preparation for the Champions Trophy.
