Hazlewood's Availability for Brisbane Test to be Assessed After 24 Hours

Josh Hazlewood's fitness will be reassessed in 24 hours to determine his availability for the third Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test in Brisbane.

Hazlewood's Fitness Test

Hazlewood underwent a detailed fitness test at the Adelaide Oval on Monday, where he bowled two lengthy spells at near-to-peak pace. However, his availability for selection will depend on how he pulls up in the next 24 hours.

Hazlewood's Concerns

Hazlewood has been plagued by fitness concerns in the past, missing four Tests between December 2021 and June 2023 due to side issues. He has opined that the current injury feels different and that he could have pushed through to play in Adelaide had it been the final Test of the series.

Impact on Selection

Hazlewood's absence in Adelaide opened a window for Scott Boland to make his case, and the Victorian grabbed his chance by returning match figures of 5 for 105. With workload management a key factor for the remainder of the summer, the selectors will be pushed into making a well-informed decision over the next couple of days.
