Under-fire Labuschagne gets Cummins' vote of confidence

Marnus Labuschagne is under pressure due to his poor form in Tests, with just 245 runs across 12 innings at an average of 24.50 and three fifties. However, Australian captain Pat Cummins is confident that Labuschagne will overcome his slump. The upcoming Test at Adelaide Oval, where Labuschagne has three Test hundreds, may provide a morale boost.

Labuschagne's defensive approach has been criticized, with a focus on occupying the crease for longer periods. Cummins suggests that reverting to basics and being more proactive could help Labuschagne regain form.

Australia faces challenges as a team, with a focus on improving batting performance after the loss in Perth. The final two sessions of the opening day were crucial, as Australia failed to apply themselves despite restricting India to a low total. Indian spearhead Jasprit Bumrah's performance was instrumental in India's victory.

Josh Hazlewood's injury leads to Scott Boland's recall. Cummins praises Boland's accuracy, consistency, and ability to move the ball around, making him a suitable replacement for Hazlewood in Adelaide conditions.

"I hope there's some lessons learnt… everyone's kind of learnt a bit and come back here slightly better prepared." – Pat Cummins
