Ricky Ponting: India's Perth win is one of their greatest triumphs

Ricky Ponting believes India's recent win in Perth is one of the team's greatest ever Test match wins. The former Australia captain is convinced that the win might even be greater than the 'Gabba 2021' outcome, which propelled India to an incredible series win.

India won the match by 295 runs, after slumping to a tiny score in the first innings. The team's stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah led from the front with eight wickets, overall, in the Test and was rightfully declared the Player of the Test.

Bumrah's incredible bowling at the start of the first innings was a key factor in the Indian win. Ponting praised the team's bowling group for standing up late on Day One, which he believes changed the game. The Indian win was special coming as it did after a shock 0-3 washout at home against New Zealand.

Ponting believes that India are a better side overseas than at home, and that their batsmen play better away from home than they do at home. He thinks that the Indian batsmen are better players of fast bowling now than they are of spin bowling, and that this was proven in the recent win in Perth.

Ponting still stands by his prediction that the final outcome of the Border Gavaskar Trophy would be 3-1, and believes that India will go on to win the series.
