South Africa fold for 191 despite Bavuma's 70
Sri Lanka continued to trouble South Africa on the second day. Their pacers, Lahiru Kumara and Vishwa Fernando, were effective throughout the day.
Kumara trapped Kyle Verreynne lbw early on and struck Wiaan Mulder on the glove, forcing him off the field. Mulder will require scans to assess the damage and his availability for the rest of the Test.
South Africa were reduced to 85/6 and needed a partnership. Temba Bavuma found one with Marco Jansen, but Sri Lanka introduced spin in the form of Prabath Jayasuriya. Jayasuriya dismissed Jansen lbw and then caught Gerald Coetzee off a miscued shot.
Keshav Maharaj provided some support to Bavuma, hitting a few boundaries. Bavuma reached his 22nd Test fifty.
Sri Lanka then attacked Maharaj with pace, and he was dismissed by Vishwa Fernando. Bavuma went on the offensive, hitting boundaries and a six. Mulder came in to bat and added 26 runs with Bavuma before Kagiso Rabada was dismissed. Bavuma was eventually dismissed for 70.
South Africa finished with 191.
Brief Scores: South Africa 191 (Temba Bavuma 70; Asitha Fernando 3-44, Lahiru Kumara 3-70) vs Sri Lanka.
