Jaiswal, Kohli Star as India Dominate Australia on Day 3
Virat Kohli scored his 30th Test century and Yashasvi Jaiswal hit a massive 161 as India declared their second innings at 487/6, setting Australia a daunting target of 534. India then picked up three wickets in the final session to leave Australia reeling at 12/3.
Kohli looked calm and composed during his 143-ball knock, rotating the strike and punishing loose deliveries. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Kohli put on a quickfire 77-run partnership, with Kohli hitting a six straight down the ground off Nathan Lyon. India declared immediately after Kohli's century and sent Australia in to bat.
Nathan McSweeney's miserable Test debut ended for nought, while Pat Cummins was caught in the slips off Mohammed Siraj. Marnus Labuschagne was trapped in front of the stumps by Jasprit Bumrah, leaving India needing seven wickets to clinch victory.
Earlier, KL Rahul and Jaiswal put on the first 200-run opening stand for India in Australia. Jaiswal brought up his fourth Test century with a ramp over fine-leg for six. Australia managed to pick up four wickets in quick succession, but India's lead was already substantial.
