Bangladesh Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto Praises Nasum Ahmed
Najmul Hossain Shanto, the captain of the Bangladesh national team, has praised Nasum Ahmed for his outstanding performance in the second ODI of the series against Afghanistan. Nasum had recently returned to international cricket after a period of difficulties and was involved in some controversy.
"Game Changer" Nasum Steals the Show
Nasum's 24-ball 25, which included a four and two sixes, proved instrumental in Bangladesh's comeback against Afghanistan. He shared a 46-run partnership with Jaker Ali, helping to reduce the deficit and making it challenging for the opposing team. Nasum's impressive bowling display earned him the "game changer of the match" award, as he took 3-28.
Captain Speaks on Nasum's Performance
"It was difficult for him; I don't want to bring the off-the-field issues here," Najmul said. "A professional cricketer always focuses on the game. He was always part of the dressing room so he had no problem adjusting to the players."
"He helped the team with his batting and bowling. He showed a lot of courage. I really liked his approach. I think the way Jaker and Nasum batted in the last few overs made a difference in this game," he added.
Team Effort Impresses Najmul
The Bangladesh captain praised the team's effort, saying, "Everyone showed a lot of character in our bowling and fielding. It was a difficult situation for us in the last few matches. We were waiting for a momentum. I think we applied 100 percent [in this game]. We can still improve."
Reflecting on the Game
Najmul expressed his dissatisfaction with his own batting, stating, "I am not happy with my batting. I have to make my innings big in all formats. It is not about scoring a fifty or hundred, I have to take the team to a good position." He believes that he should have batted longer to help the team more, adding, "I think I should have batted till the 45th or 47th overs. It would have helped Riyad bhai or Jaker Ali."
