South Africa Dominates Bangladesh in Test Series

South Africa's runs in Asia have been a long time coming

South Africa's total of 575/6 declared is their biggest in 45 away Tests, a feat not achieved in almost 12 years. It is also their biggest in Asia since 2010.

Tony De Zorzi's Impressive Performance

Tony de Zorzi's score of 177 was a lynchpin performance in South Africa's victory, with only six players in Tests history making higher scores in Asia for South Africa.

First-Time Test Cenuries for South Africa Batsmen

This match marks the first time three South African batters have made centuries in the same innings in Asia, a testament to the team's growing success on foreign soil.

Patience and Application in Foreign Conditions

De Zorzi attributes his success to mental preparation, focusing on decision-making, staying focused, and identifying what works on the pitch against certain bowlers.

Historical Context

South Africa has had limited success in Test series in Asia, winning only two series in their previous 22. Last week's seven-wicket win in Mirpur shifted the momentum in their favor, and a victory in Chattagong seems probable.

"Most of it is mental, probably 80 to 90% of it," De Zorzi said. "Because once you get in, it becomes pretty much about your decision-making and your ability to stay focused and stay in your game plan."

South Africa's slow, seaming, bouncing pitches are one thing, but the team's achievements on the subcontinent's slow, spinning, submarining surfaces are distinctly another.

"We've had some really good batsmen in the past, and some of them have made some big scores in Asia," said De Zorzi. "But it's not just about the runs, it's about the performances we've put in. We've been working hard as a team, and it's great to see the fruits of our labor."

De Zorzi's performances have been exceptional, with the team's fast, seaming, bouncing pitches being one thing, but his ability to adapt to the subcontinent's slow, spinning, submarining surfaces is another.

"It's about identifying what's working on this pitch against certain bowlers and then sticking to it; not going outside of it because you don't need to in this format," De Zorzi said.

The team's performances speak for themselves, and with a victory in Chattagong, they may just make their way down the coast to the beachy Cox's Bazar.
