Kirsten Resigns as Pakistan's White-ball Coach
The tenure of Gary Kirsten as head coach of Pakistan Men's white-ball teams has come to an end after just over six months. Kirsten submitted his resignation, which was accepted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and will be replaced by Jason Gillespie for the upcoming white-ball tour of Australia.
Kirsten reportedly had serious differences with the players, a situation that may have been influenced by his request to appoint David Reid as a High Performance coach, which was not approved by the PCB.
In recent developments, Mohammad Rizwan has been announced as the new full-time white-ball captain, and the squads for the upcoming tours to Australia and Zimbabwe have been unveiled.
Kirsten took over Pakistan's white-ball team in May, following his assignment with the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Under his leadership, the team struggled, losing a bilateral series to England, suffering an unexpected defeat against the United States in the T20 World Cup, and narrowly losing to India, which eliminated their chances of qualifying for the knockouts.
